I'm a third-culture industrial designer with a global perspective, shaped by growing up across countries such as Hungary, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and the USA. I bring a unique blend of cultural insight, systems thinking, and a passion for packaging, stationery, furniture, accessibility, sustainable design, and more. I design with empathy, intention, and a drive to make a meaningful impact.
Hi, I’m Shreya Vaidyanathan.
My name is Shreya Vaidyanathan. I am a senior studying Industrial Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Born in India and raised in a diplomatic family, I have lived in Budapest, Beijing, New Delhi, Kandy, New York City, Colombo, Windhoek, and now Rochester — experiences that have shaped a global perspective I bring to my design work.
I am passionate about design in its many forms. My practice encompasses furniture design, 3D-printed prototyping, CAD-based product development for consumer technology, and hands-on woodworking in the shop. I focus on thoughtful integration of form and function, exploring materiality, manufacturing processes, and user-centered solutions.
Outside of design, I am an avid chess player and a language learner. I enjoy reading, spending time in nature, discovering new music and museums, and expressing creativity through art, makeup, fashion, modeling, and journaling.
